5 Easy Earth Day Tips

First of all, what is Earth Day?

Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22. It’s a day on which events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.

While we all want what’s best for this beautiful planet that we call home, most of us can’t take the day off of work to attend an Earth Day event or volunteer for the cause. These 5 easy Earth Day tips will make a bigger impact than you think!

1.Buy Reusable Coffee Cups
Think about how many paper coffee cups you throw away each week. 3? 5? 10? It can add up year over year. Buy 2 reusable cups: One for cold drinks and one for warm drinks. Plus, by using reusable cups, you get a $0.10 discount on your drinks at Starbucks!

2. Leave the Car at Home
According to the EPA, “Leaving your car at home twice a week can cut greenhouse gas emissions by 1,600 pounds per year.” Today, try walking to the grocery store or the gym and get the added bonus of some light exercise.

3. Recycle Your Electronics
Take that old computer that’s collecting dust in the basement and bring it to your local electronics recycling center. Learn more about e-cycling here.

4. Eat mindfully
That burger you had for dinner last night was delicious, but how did it impact the environment. You can find out by using an eating green calculator.

5. Wash Clothes in Cold Water
