Why we love our mothers

Why we love our mothers

Moms are super heroes. They take care of us, nurture us, love us, and make the world a better place. This Mother’s Day, the Nourish Snacks staff wanted to send some love out to the moms in our lives.

Joy Bauer, Founder and CNO (Chief Nutrition Officer)

The sign of an amazing mom: She has the ability to make each of her children feel like they’re her favorite. That’s my mom! I’m one of four kids, and each one of us—as well as all of our spouses and 12 grandchildren—argue the same. So she has eight favorite kids and 12 favorite grandkiddos. Oh, and three fave dogs, too.

My mom is my hero. She’s supportive, nonjudgemental and has more energy than anyone I know. After my husband, Ian, she is the very first person I call when I have a problem… or good news to share 😉 AND she’s always up for a glass of wine!

Jennifer, VP of Marketing

My mom has been a constant source of inspiration for me, showing me how to be a strong and caring person. She has been through a lot of difficult situations, yet always remains steadfast in her faith and positive in her outlook on life. Her generosity knows no bounds as she gives to her family, volunteers in her community and supports her friends around her. She has taught me to be the mother I am today.

Mark, Logistics and Operations Manager

My mom Felicity is a talented ‘plein air’ painter living in Brunswick Maine.  Her life, and mine, could easily have been very different; she and my father moved here from England in their early 20s with nothing but a couple of suitcases.  I’ve always marveled at the bravery that leap of faith took, and I strive always for the optimism and courage that my mother has brought to every challenge in life.  I deeply admire her talent and dedication to her art, and I cherish her kindness and warmth.  Her journey of constant exploration, study, evolution and growth has always been an inspiration to me.

Julia, Marketing Director

I love my mom more than anyone but this Mother’s Day I want to give a shout-out to my Mother-in-Law, who, 20 years ago, picked up and moved her family from a war-torn Bosnia to New York City without knowing a word of English or anyone in the area. This selfless move was solely to give her child (my husband!) a better life. She succeeded and I’m so grateful for that!

Jessica, RD, Head of Nutrition

My mom oozes kindness in every sense of the word and lives a life of unconditional love. She’s the one striking up a conversation with the grumpy NY city subway riders, hand-making cards for every holiday, spoiling my kids with love and affection, and orchestrating memorable family events as the most gracious hostess. But it wasn’t until I became a mom that I came to fully appreciate just how strong and selfless a woman she is, and how much I want to be just like her.

Jesse, Marketing Manager

My sister who just had her second child! She’s already raised one of the coolest kids I know (#TedGettierForCongress), has a full-time job as an attorney, and is the best big sister a guy could ask for.

Kaley, Customer Nourishment

I admire my mom for everything she has shown me growing up. She has taught me that the best things in life cannot be bought and are not possessions. To always be humble, patient and generous and to be kind to everyone. Whenever I need a reminder I know who to look up to!

Pam, VP of HR & Talent

My wonderful mom taught me so much growing up, especially the value of kindness and thoughtfulness. She tirelessly raised 4 kids while working full-time, yet always made the time to think of others. She volunteered at the hospital and taught us the importance of supporting the community (a few times a year, she asked us to select some of our toys to give to the children at the orphanage who were less fortunate than us).  Her kind spirit and generosity brightened the lives of many people, and made her family extremely proud.

Olivia, Marketing Coordinator

My mom is one of the kindest and selfless people I know. Whether I’m sad, lonely or just want to hang out, she will always spend time with me. If my mom has plans, she will drop them to sit on the couch and watch Friends with me. There’s nothing I love more than to waste the day away just hanging out with my mom.
