We caught up with Olivia Ward, winner of The Biggest Loser, one of NYC’s top SoulCycle instructors, and cofounder of Myfitspiration.com. Olivia is an inspiration to millions of people around the country and we were lucky enough to get some of her advice firsthand.

Olivia, tell us more about what you do!

I currently live in New York City where I’m a full time instructor at SoulCycle…and I LOVE it!! In addition to SoulCycle I’m the cofounder of MyFitspiration.com with my sister & partner in crime, Hannah Young. We travel all over the country speaking about health & weight loss and sharing our experiences while on Season 11 of NBC’s The Biggest Loser.  My life has changed so much over the last four years & I owe all of that to incorporating consistent healthy choices to my daily lifestyle! I’m also expecting our first child…a healthy baby boy in August. Life is good!

You’ve had an amazing journey to health and happiness. Tell us some of your biggest milestones.

I think my first and most important milestone in my journey was winning the The Biggest Loser. Not only did I lose 129 pounds, but I gained 100% of my life back! In addition to The Biggest Loser I have competed in many races such as the NYC Olympic Triathlon & the Fitness Woman’s Half Marathon! I would have never believed I could become the athlete I am today & that feels incredible knowing what my body is capable of!

What does a typical day look like for you?

My day consists of getting up early enough to cook a healthy breakfast…usually egg white omelette with veggies & Greek yogurt with berries. I always feel I can take on my day when I start with healthy food. Then I usually sit down with my laptop and sort out my music playlists for my SoulCycle classes. It’s so enjoyable to sit with music and think about how you will weave the workout through the words, melody, & beat! Shortly after that I head to the studio and teach anywhere from 2-3 classes a day depending on the day. Now that the weather has become warm I always try and get a good long walk in (Central Park this time of year is my favorite). I head home in the evening and cook dinner with my husband Ben and usually just see where the evening takes us. That’s the best part of living in NYC there is always something to do!

What is the most nourishing part of your job?

I think the most nourishing part of my job has to be watching people transform before your eyes! I’ve watched people drop 5, 10, 30, and even 100 pounds while taking my classes. Knowing that in some small way I’ve been able to help and encourage someone to change their body and become an athlete is just the biggest honor of my life.

How do you stay energized during a busy day?

Keeping my body fueled is KEY for my energy levels. I used to just think of food as instant gratification, now I look at it as fuel for all the things I want to accomplish in the day! It’s really why all of the Nourish Snacks have been a life saver… Because I get the fuel I need AND the satisfaction of enjoying something delicious!

What is inspiring you right now?

Watching all the fit pregnant women I see daily in NYC! It’s amazing how they work full time jobs, have families, and then exercise in my classes. It has really kept me motivated & strong during my own pregnancy. If they can do it, I can do it!! 🙂

How do you get it all done?

My biggest suggestion is to schedule your workouts or “me time” just like you do your doctor appointments. Then stick to that schedule. Write them down in your planner or phone a week in advance…that way it’s not hanging over your head all day. Life gets so busy and if those moments aren’t already carved out in your schedule they get pushed to the back burner.

How do you nourish the ones you love?

I try to show them how much I love them not just with my words, but also with my actions. Even a simple unwarranted hug can change someone’s day. Yep, if you meet me, beware I’m a hugger!

What do you snack on in the morning? Afternoon? Night?

I love a good snack…who doesn’t?! In the morning I try and stick to fruit. At the moment I’m obsessed with cold watermelon. At lunch time I always grab a Nourish Snacks blend because I don’t leave the house without 2 or 3 in my bag. It’s like a little present waiting for me after class! Usually at night I try not to snack if I can avoid it, but I love making hot tea. I have a chocolate peppermint flavor that I’m drinking a lot lately…it feels like dessert without the guilt.

What is your favorite Nourish Snacks flavor? Why?

I could NEVER pick just one, seriously they are all that good! One of my ultimate faves is Berry’d Treasure!

Anything else you want want to share?

Just to remind everyone that life is too short to live a life you don’t want…it’s never too late to live the life you do!!!
